SoCal Shaker!

Welp, as I'm sure y'all know by now, we had a bit of a shaker in this region this morning. A 5.4 to be exact, centered in Chino Hills, which is like 30 miles east of L.A. Even though that's pretty far from Northridge, it was enough to SRSLY rattle some nerves, especially at my library, which was severely damaged in the 1994 quake here!

We were evacuated as a precaution, and on our way out, my friend Diane and I snapped some shots of just a few of the many piles of books that leapt off the shelves during the quake:

You crazy Californians! Who lives in places where the earth literally moves under your feet? (ok, I'm just totally jealous because I live in the shithole of the earth. As my dad always says, if they ever give the world an enema, we're gonna be right in the middle of the action). Anyway, glad to hear that you are ok...I'm beginning to feel that we are somewhat of kindred spirits...

Kate-
Glad to know you all are okay! Reason number 1, why I don't live in the CAL. You probably say that about our hurricanes. I did get the job and thanks so much for asking. I can't wait to teach middle school. Rian

Wowee-wow-wow! I leave town for a few days, and the world starts falling apart! At least the college library! Anyhow, glad you are safe, and glad that you had a little break...err... I mean 'evacuation' from work.
