This Week's Wine/Fish Pairing:

This week's wine and fish pairing featured a delightful Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand's Marlborough region: Brancott. The Brancott has a zingy lime flavor -- with a splash of minerality reminiscent of the earth from whence the grapes came. I paired this delightful quaff with a beautiful tuna pâté of sorts: it was a mixture of egg, ever-so-firmly boiled; celery, sliced finely; and the tangy zip of Miracle Whip. This was skillfully smooshed together and spread upon a slice of Milton's Multi-grain bread, lightly toasted. Delicious!

I daresay, this was one of my most successful wine/fish pairings to date.

You tell that over-rated skank Rachel Ray what she can do!! Now if only I were a wine drinker... and a bigger fan of the tuna...

One could say MY wine pairing is more like a...DEW pairing. A classic, caffeinated Mountain Dew, from the fountain, with a heavier ratio of syrup to water, and a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos! Ah, now THAT is dining. Kiss my grits, Rachel Ray!!

Oops... I think I spelled that food ladies' name wrong. It shows you how well her overly saturated marketing campaigns are paying off for Nabisco (and apparently half the other food products of the world). Money well spent, people!

leigh from matt's blog, here. wanted to note a couple of things. first - i love your comments and i totally get and enjoy your gallows humor, if it must be called that. i would just call it f'n funny. (haven't noticed much cursing on your blog, so i'll self-edit.) second - i think matt should know about your husband's affection for the angels. he might be severely disappointed in you, but i am sure you could work something out. and third - i freaking love brancott sauvignon blanc and have been known to drink it with potato chips and turkey sandwiches. thanks to your gourmet reflections, i now can not wait to try it with some homemade tuna fish in the next week or so. what a great idea!

Gack! Since Brancott is a kiwi vino, maybe you should pair it with Vegemite on toast next time! GACK!
