Knebworth Festival '76

Wow, here's a nutty concert lineup for ya: Lynyrd Skynyrd (look -- they misspelled it on the poster), the Stones, 10cc and Todd "Is God" Rundgren.

I dunno... I don't think that would've worked for me. Todd and 10cc, sure, but I could do without the 2 headliners. All 4 bands on the same bill??? Blech.

Just IMHO, people!

Zeke? Any comments???

Hi - lurker here- I was just wondering if you got the name for your blog from the book "From the Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweller"? I LOVED that book as a kid. (I found your blog through a comment you left on Matt's blog - Robots for Obama!!! Oh,my link here is actually a link to my husband's blog, not mine. I don't have one.)

Hi Kathy! That is indeed where the blog name came from. When I was making the blog, the book was sitting on the computer desk cuz my son was reading it at the time! It's a great book.

I see you're in IL... My husband is from Hoffman Estates! :-) We're going back for Thanksgiving -- I can't wait.

One word..... FREEBIRD!!

Seriously, I could have done without Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Stones, that would have been a good era. But my honest opinion, it would have been better as KNEBWORTH '97. 10cc was putting out some great music, Todd had just finished his great Bossa Nova album, and Lynyrd... well, can you say "plane crash"??

I must agree with those who wonder if you were high while writing that post. Sure, Todd and 10cc are quality acts, but you'd take them over the STONES and SKYNYRD? "Ooooh, that smell...can't you smell that smell?"

I'm guessing you prefer the headliners at this one...

I thought of another weird lineup. So, back in 1985, my guitar playing buddy asked me if I would go see Santana, with him. I agreed, although it was more as a favor, than as a fan.

Two days before the show, I find out that CHINA CRISIS is the opening act... who was my FAVORITE band, at that time.

SANTANA/CHINA CRISIS: What crack-smokin' promoter put those two bands together??

Hey, I want to pat him on the back. Why? Because not only was it a fantastic concert, in every regard, but the hippies didn't give a hairy rats behind about China Crisis, enabling my good buddy Kim and I to get right up against the front barricades.
